Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Taurus

Tuesday November 8, 6:02am EDT

This Lunar eclipse, the Moon is in Taurus, symbolized by the bull, sign of Earth, ruled by Venus, a feminine fixed sign. Taurus: think sensation, music, taste, the feeling of fine cloth against your skin, and the fragrance of flowers…. As with all full moons, it opposes the Sun, which is in Scorpio, where flowers become a memory, and the last leaves fall as we enter the dark preparation for Solstice and Winter.

The Moon, symbol of The Mother with a capital M, archetypal as well as literal, calls to heart words like womb, instinct, deep inner knowing, cycles, change, emotions. In Taurus, the Moon is an invitation to examine our connection and sense of safety with Mama Gaia, to lie on the soft Earth, smell the soil, dig our fingers into dirt and leaves– the body of Earth.

It’s also an invitation to connect more deeply with our own bodies and our comfort here, to practice self care, savor nourishing food, get a massage, lovingly caress our own skin, face, legs, neck, arms, and tune in with our experience of sensation.

And, as money is an energy of materiality, Moon in Taurus asks what our relationship with security and finances is.

At this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse, the Moon is conjunct Uranus: planet of unexpected events, wild freedom, utopian ideals, and radical disruption. Uranus in Taurus suggests that the Earth and our relation to the physical world is changing, and conjunct the Moon, this may feel uncertain and unstable on a foundational level. We are advised to dig in and connect with the deep roots (nourishment from the underworld) of our bodies, land, and materiality in general. What is health? What is wealth? What does a harmonious and symbiotic relationship with the natural world look and feel like? All this connects in the weave of Taurus Moon Earth Mother energy, manifesting its unique expression for each of us.

Sun, Mercury, and Venus are all conjunct in Scorpio, opposite the Moon and Uranus. So while we nourish our relationship with Mother Earth’s abundance in the face of change, Sun, Mercury, and Venus call on us to simultaneously investigate the places at the edges of our comfort, and encourage exploration of our shadows and whatever lies hidden beneath. Venus encourages art and beauty in whatever way we go about that. Mercury in Scorpio suggests communication seeking hidden truths, and has the ability to both descend to the depths and arise again to integrate our individual journeys with the collective story. After all, in the myth of Persephone, it is Mercury who is sent to the Underworld to bring Persephone back.

Adding tension to the already powerful opposition between this eclipse’s Sun/Venus/Mercury conjunction in Scorpio and the Moon/Uranus conjunction in Taurus, Saturn in Aquarius squares both luminaries, creating a t-square aspect pattern. This highly agitating aspect is super potent for growth. We have Taurus’ Earthy sensuality, Scorpio’s magnetism toward the hidden depths, and the cooly analytical visions of Aquarius creating hopes and dreams for the future. When we own all these parts of ourselves and can integrate them, dance with them, what before seemed impossible will come to fruition, and powerful transformation can occur in both our inner and outer realities.

Saturn, former ruler of Aquarius, god of time, seasons, authority, and farming– what we reap is what we sow– speaks to the opportunity for new worlds, and this t-square following the exact series of Saturn Uranus squares gives the picture of a final challenge and push in our current quests to bring visions and dreams for our collective into material fruition.

The upcoming weeks will bring more ease and huge possibilities for ideals and expansion when Jupiter goes direct on the next New Moon in Sagittarius (ruled by Jupiter). Now is the time to set the foundation for that growth, to finalize our current steps and release and clear the path with the deep work. For the expansive vision of the archer (symbol of Sagittarius) to be true in their aim, and for us to actualize our highest potential of joyful manifestation possible, this Full Moon Eclipse is the time to meet the final tests of fate, complete the transformation, and see through the journey of this initiation– whatever it is for you.

Mars in Gemini retrograde asks that we RE-think communication.

Jupiter and Neptune, both retrograde in Pisces and square with Mars, ask that we examine our truths, dreams, and collective visions, and RE-orient whatever is not for the highest good of All.

This is a time to rewrite whatever scripts have held us back, to lean into our hard earned mastery with Saturn and give ourselves permission to map new civilizations, civilizations in unity with the Earth above and below, in alignment with our hopes for the future, recognizing wounds and healing ourselves and the ancestors, a civilization as an expression of our wildest dreams and visions for co-creation.

We are near the other side. The path is the destination. Let each step be one of commitment, beauty, wildness, and empowerment, as we reclaim and remember who we truly are on our missions, and lift each other up as we deepen all connections.

Blessed Be,

Sarah

NOTE: The Persephone and Demeter myth feels powerful at this time, and though I don’t include it here, I’ll be sharing an audio recording of it as we near the eclipse. It’s a wonderful source of meditation for these days leading up to the Full Moon, as much of the story holds symbolic resonance for the challenges and opportunities the stars describe.
