Winter Solstice and Capricorn New Moon

Entering Capricorn, the sign of the mountain goat, we call in the Mountain. We call upon our measured strength in time. We enter the cold silence of the still peak: the shortest day and the longest night: death and rebirth. Breathing in the stillness, the quiet winter womb, I find pause amidst the world’s wild whirling spin of stimulation. In this moment, I retreat from the need to be anything other than present to the now. now. now. The measured time goes on: breath, heartbeat, drumbeat.

From here, we may reflect upon the year that’s passed. We may vision our future dreams. We may take the weight of the cycle into our bodies: feel the year that was: the need to rest. Feel the new beginning: a spark of light. Feel the loss and grief and joy and wild ecstatic rage and love and connection that has flowed through your life and world over the past 12 months: 13 moons: four seasons: travel back through moody fall into light long summer days to spring taking birth then back again to the dark call for hidden shifts of the unconscious transforming inside.

Wherever you are on your journey, I invite you to thank yourself for the work you have done. And I invite you to gently breathe a spark of life into your seeds of new beginnings. Holding both, what has been and what will come, may we be still in the pause that is right now: a step between steps: a moment in the span of time. Honor yourself. Honor your knowing, while taking things step-by-step, easeful, keep-on-keeping-on.
